The OECD’s Development Assistance Committee (DAC) defines official development assistance (ODA) as “government aid that promotes and specifically targets the economic development and welfare of developing countries”.

Luxembourg development cooperation is firmly committed to the eradication of poverty, particularly in the least developed countries. Its actions are conceived in the spirit of sustainable development understood in its social, economic and environmental aspects - with men, women and children at its center. They are part of the implementation - by 2030 - of the Sustainable Development Goals.

In 2023, the Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs allocated a total budget of EUR 99.78 million to humanitarian interventions.
